Thaddeus Dickson

Welcome to my website.

About Me

I am a parent, partner, dog dad, CEO, behavioral healthcare advocate, technology and security expert, collector of hobbies and could fill the ocean with everything I’d still like to learn, do, and accomplish.

My focus over the last year has been on writing, as I navigate through the chapters of the most ambitious literary project I’ve undertaken to date, on Transitions, and exploration into the interfaces and vulnerabilities of life, that exist between the seminal phases of our personal and professional journeys.

With the emergence of AI there are important additional chapters being added to this project, exploring the intelligence transition that we are undergoing as a global society, delving into the implications of this new species of digital intelligence that is augmenting our work, our travel, our media, and virtually all aspects of our lives. This new frontier amounts to a massive transition in the way that we consume information, extend our human capabilities, and face the implications of on demand intelligence that can be accessed with the click of a button.

The ability to now code applications using natural language, analyze large volumes of information efficiently, create visualizations on the fly, and augment significant areas of our personal and professional lives with “extensible intelligence” is lowering the bar of technology and offering tremendous opportunity to solve challenging problems at scale.

As the GPT models gain in maturity, we are also heading toward an era of Artificial General Intelligence or AGI which refers to a type of artificial intelligence that can understand, learn, and apply knowledge across a wide range of tasks at a level comparable to human intelligence. Unlike narrow AI (which is designed to perform specific tasks, like facial recognition or playing chess), AGI would possess the ability to generalize knowledge and skills from one domain to another, mimicking the flexibility and adaptability of human cognition.

Even as AI impacts our lives in new and yet to be understood ways, there are distinctly human endeavors that remain essential to our identity, such as love, joy, human interaction, and the pursuit of enjoyment and recreational activities.

And speaking of recreation, nothing quite embodies the essence of life for me, like getting out on the water, pointing towards the horizon, and pushing the limits of wind, speed, and adrenaline.
